Sawtooth Mountain Candle Company has created a line of highly scented, sumptuously
crafted, eco-friendly soy candles of distinction. We’ve delved into nineteenth-century molding techniques, researched
cleaner-burning wax formulas, and discovered new scent trends. The result - a singularly irresistible
candle for every occasion!
Why Soy? Soy vs. Paraffin
Soy candles burn at a lower melting point than Paraffin wax. They are slower and cooler burning which creates
much better fragrance distribution.
Soy Wax turns into pure Vitamin E oil when melted – use it to soften rough skin and nails.
Our soy candles last up to 50% longer than candles made of harmful petroleum-based paraffin, the ingredient found
in 99% of all candles.
They are non-toxic, less likely to trigger allergies, clean up with soap and water, and produce very little
soot.
Our candles are a favorite of environmentally conscious consumers. They are made from American-grown soybeans, which
is a biodegradable, renewable resource.
Paraffin wax is made from what is left over from the refining process of diesel fuel. Paraffin candles release up to 11
carcinogens when lit.
Hand Poured Soy Wax Candles
The candles we make use the finest soy wax on the market – and the best scents for longer candle scent life. We use
specially designed wicks in our hand poured and hand made candles.
Our candle waxes are the culmination of 12 years of research, testing and product improvement. We have dedicated the time,
expense and effort to develop the best wax products.
We get comments from many candle manufacturers that have tested all of the soy waxes and vegetable waxes presently on the
market. The overwhelming report is that our wax performs the best by a huge margin. We encourage you to test all other waxes
and reach your own conclusion on our wax performance and ease of use. Soy is easy to use and produces exceptional candles.
One question that does come up often is about the soybean oil content of the soy products. The very high majority percentage
of all soy wax products is soybean oil (85%). We blend in small minority additives of other vegetable oils to achieve better
performance characteristics for a smooth and even wax surface, strong fragrance throw, longer shelf life, color blend and
in the case of the pillar and votive wax, ease of mold release. It is much more important to us to have the very best wax
performance rather than 100% soy content. Soy wax products are 100% vegetable with no chemicals, animal fat or petroleum additives.
We use a variety of containers and offer a wide selection of colors and scents. We can even pour a customer candle designed
by you in your special container, just ask and we’ll make it happen.
Candle Tips
ˇKeep your wicks trimmed to 1/4". ˇ To extinguish a candle, dip the wick into the liquid wax, using a non-flammable
instrument such as our Wick Dipper. This technique also helps eliminate smoking. ˇ Burn candles away from drafts. A draft
will cause your candle to burn unevenly and smoke. ˇ Discontinue use of candle when
1/2" wax remains in bottom of container. ˇ Never burn candles unattended: Even though this sounds like just common sense,
it is quite easy to forget a candle has been left burning. ˇ Always protect your candle from debris of any kind. Candles
with carbon deposits and other material are less likely to burn evenly.
